Strengthen Our Community

Welcome to FNTK Devices—where innovation isn’t just a concept, it’s a conversation. Whether you’re a deep-dive hardware engineer, an interface designer, or someone simply curious about the next wave of technology, this community was built for you. Our shared space is designed to foster respect, ignite thought, and venture boldly into what’s coming next.

Founded by Tyvian Esthoven in Portland, Oregon, FNTK Devices is built on curiosity, accuracy, and forward-thinking innovation. From speculative device concepts to emerging control systems, we exist to exchange the ideas shaping tomorrow’s hardware.

Why We Exist

The purpose of this community is to pull back the curtain on tech—more than just updates, more than surface-level analysis—to create a place where discussion meets development. We aim to build a supportive, future-focused environment where imaginative hardware design lives alongside practical engineering execution.

This isn’t just about sparking ideas. It’s about making room for responsible innovation, where exploration feels safe and connection feels real. We’re learners, builders, coders, and creators—and each perspective lends value to the conversation. Your participation helps guide this collective progress. That’s the kind of energy we want to sustain.

Our Shared Values

Every community grows best when it’s shaped by intention. At FNTK Devices, we guide engagement using five key values:

  • Respect: Challenge ideas, not people. We’re here to discuss high-voltage ideas—not ignite interpersonal conflict.
  • Accuracy: Data matters. Share what you know, cite sources when you can, and be honest about limitations. Integrity gives innovation weight.
  • Curiosity: Our best collaborations start with genuine questions. Ask freely. Be open to learning something new.
  • Kindness: Every message matters. Technical precision and human empathy can coexist.
  • Inclusivity: Our community is broad. From students assembling their first prototypes to engineers optimizing embedded systems—we value all contributions.

These values help make FNTK Devices a space where ideas are encouraged, not gatekept.

Engaging Thoughtfully

Wherever you’re contributing—from lightweight interface logic to rugged PCB architecture—engage mindfully. We encourage participation that builds real conversations. Here’s how to do that well:

  • Keep your comments relevant, focused, and purposeful.
  • When responding, aim to elevate with insight—not shut down with critique.
  • Credit original thinkers. When drawing from posts, research, or content, include attribution.
  • Embrace complexity with humility—there’s always more behind the schematic.
  • Help others grow by offering clarity, support, or a well-placed link or concept.

We know you’re not just here to post. You’re here to participate—and participation should feel like collaboration.

Being Respectful in Technical Space

Behind every display driver or capacitor dialogue sits a real person. Disagree thoughtfully, explain kindly, and never make assumptions based on background or experience level. We do not tolerate:

  • Harassment, slurs, or discriminatory comments
  • Spam or off-topic self-promotion
  • Deceptive claims or inaccurate technical advice
  • Over-aggression, ridicule, or dismissive tones

We’re here to grow knowledge—not egos. If your response wouldn’t pass in a respectful team meeting, refine it.

Moderation as Protection — Not Policing

We keep moderation light-touch but intentional, stepping in only to preserve technical integrity and psychological safety. We act like engineers of an invisible system spec—ensuring everything runs smoothly and securely.

Moderation prioritizes education over escalation. If content is flagged, it is a signal to reassess. Encounter behavior outside our standards? Report details to the team immediately.
